Kids Electric Scooters
If your child is above the age of
8, you might think of upgrading from a
traditional kick scooter to a modern electric scooter.
Your child is sure to love it, and will be the envy of the
neighborhood. Electric scooters for kids have small,
typically maximum 200 watt motors, and
a top speed of 10 mph. This is still
considered safe, guaranteeing that your child will not be
the speed demon of the neighborhood.
Kids electric scooters have a typical
range of about 4-5 miles, which is equivalent
to around 30 minutes of riding. If the battery runs out, the
low weight of these scooters will still allow them to be used
as kick scooters, so they will still be mobile, just not
electronically driven. Most electric scooters for kids have a
built in power saving feature, where the electric motor engages
only above 3 mpg. Until that speed is reached, they act as
regular kick scooters.
If you do purchase an electric scooter for
your child, be sure to purchase safety wear to lessen the risk
of injury. This includes a quality helmet, elbow and knee pads.
These items are recommended for regular kick scooters as well,
as children have a lessened sense of balance, and are more
likely to fll with the scooter.
